How to FedNow Aging Transactions

Managing FedNow Aging Request
for Payments (RfP) transactions in a spreadsheet involves
setting up a systematic structure to track and account for
each transaction. Below is a guide on how you can use a
spreadsheet for this purpose:
1. Spreadsheet Structure:
- Set up a spreadsheet with
columns for key information:
- Date:
Transaction date.
- Payee:
Name of the payee or vendor.
- Invoice Details:
Reference to the invoice or purpose of payment.
- Amount:
Transaction amount.
- FedNow Transaction
Reference: A unique identifier for
FedNow transactions.
- Payment Status:
To track whether the payment is pending, in
progress, or completed.
2. Aging of Request for
Payments:
- Create a separate sheet or
section for Aging Reports:
- Invoice Date:
Date when the RfP was initiated.
- Due Date:
The expected date for payment.
- Payment Status:
Track the status of payments (e.g., Not Paid, In
Progress, Paid).
- FedNow Transaction
Reference: Reference to link aging
reports with the main transaction sheet.
3. Transaction Entry:
- Enter each FedNow
transaction into the main sheet. Include details such
as the date, payee, amount, FedNow reference, and
payment status.
4. Updating Payment Status:
- Regularly update the
payment status based on the progress of FedNow
transactions. This can be done manually or automated
with conditional formatting or formulas.
5. Aging Report Updates:
- Link the Aging Report to
the main transaction sheet using the FedNow Transaction
Reference. Automate the aging calculations based on the
invoice date and update the due date status.
6. Analysis and Reporting:
- Use built-in spreadsheet
functions to analyze the data, such as SUM, COUNTIF,
and conditional formatting for visual cues on payment
status.
- Generate pivot tables or
charts to get insights into the aging of RfP
transactions.
